In the early morning hours of July 4, 1954, Marilyn Reese Sheppard was bludgeoned to death in her bed with an unknown instrument. The bedroom was covered with blood spatter and drops of blood were found on floors throughout the house. Some items from the house, including Sam Sheppard's wristwatch, keychain and key, and fraternity ring, appeared to have been stolen.

When he awoke, he saw the person downstairs, chased the intruder out of the house down to the beach where they tussled and Sheppard was knocked unconscious again. He awoke with half his body in the lake.

It started with an urgent plea for help late Saturday night as he walked to his car after a State Fair outing with his family.
And it ended with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett lying in a pool of blood with a broken hand after he rushed to confront a pipe-wielding suspect officials described as a "vicious thug."
By Sunday evening, the suspect was in custody, Barrett was recuperating at a hospital, and his heroics were being recounted on national cable and network news shows.
Barrett, first elected in 2004 and re-elected last year, was struck on the head and torso with the pipe and broke his hand, presumably when he punched the man. As he rested Sunday at Froedtert Hospital, where doctors stitched up cuts on his head and lip, authorities and witnesses explained what happened.

The attack was carried out using a white
Renault van hired earlier on the same evening in
Harold Hill,
Havering by Khuram Butt. He had intended to hire a 7.5 ton truck, but was refused due to his failure to provide payment details. The attackers were armed with 12-inch (30 cm) kitchen knives with ceramic blades, which they tied to their wrists with leather straps. They also prepared fake
explosive belts by wrapping water bottles in grey tape.

UTC+1) on 3 June 2017, the van was identified to have travelled south across London Bridge, and returned six minutes later, crossing over the bridge northbound, making a U-turn at the northern end and then driving southbound across the bridge. It mounted the
pavement and hit multiple pedestrians, killing three.
[13] Witnesses said the van was travelling at high speed.

wine bottles containing flammable liquid with rags stuffed in them along with
blow torches.
